  • Our advanced life support medics generally have more than 400 hours of training to attain their certification, plus many more hours of on-the-job experience.
  • Union Volunteer Emergency Squad responds to nearly 10,000 911 calls each year in the Town of Union.
  • UVES maintains 9 emergency vehicles: seven type III ambulances; an advanced life support fly car; a basic life support quick response vehicle. We have a special gator modified for off-road emergencies.
  • We cover more than 56,000 residents in the 18th-largest town in New York. And the daytime population in our coverage area is larger than that.
  • We maintain three stations to provide the fastest response: Central Station on Avenue B in Endwell; The Panko Station on Riverside Drive in Johnson City and the West Station on Maple Street in Endicott.
  • We respond to 90% of our calls in the Town of Union within 12 minutes.
  • The Panko Station is named for Nicholas Panko, a longtime supporter of UVES.

  • We offer training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation certified by the American Heart Association.
  • We offer car seat inspection and installation by certified Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians.
  • Effective CPR done immediately after cardiac arrest can triple a victim’s chance of survival.
